One killed in fiery multi-vehicle crash over the weekend

MONTGOMERY, AL – A female driver died and several other occupants were hurt after four cars crashed and caught fire, Alabama Now reports.

A 2016 Chevrolet Cruz was driving on Alabama 126 when it swerved over into the opposite lanes. The Chevrolet crashed into a 2003 Dodge Ram 3500, causing both cars to crash into a side rail and burst into flames. A driver in a 2013 Nissan Maxima crashed while attempting to avoid the collision. The Dodge Ram was then rear-ended by a 2018 Ford Edge, which also caught on fire.

Emergency responders arrived at the accident near mile marker 5, shortly after 10:57 a.m. Saturday. The Chevrolet driver, a 26-year-old Montgomery woman, was declared dead at the site of the crash. Two passengers in the Dodge were hospitalized at a nearby medical center.

The Alabama State Troopers are currently investigating the cause of the wreck.
