Vehicle strikes, injures pedestrian in Northport

NORTHPORT, AL – A man has been seriously injured after he was hit by a car, according to the Tuscaloosa Thread.

A vehicle traveling on McFarland Boulevard West struck a man standing near the storefront of Wendy’s. He sustained severe injuries from the impact.

Emergency responders including the Northport Fire Rescue service and Northstar ambulances were called to the scene at the intersection of McFarland Boulevard and Lurleen Wallace Boulevard.

The crash occurred at about 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, according to the assistant chief of the Northport Police Department.

The accident also caused traffic slowdowns in the surrounding areas due to lane closures.

It is unknown whether the man is in stable condition.

The wreck is currently being investigated by the Accident Reconstruction Unit with the NPD. We will be following this story as it develops.
