Driver killed after head-on car accident near York

SUMTER COUNTY, AL – Two vehicles traveling on I-59 collided and led to the death of one man on Sunday, Tuscaloosa News reports.

The driver of a 2015 Nissan Maxima was heading along I-59 at about 3:15 a.m. when he ran into a 2019 Dodge Ram head-on.

The accident happened nearly five miles north of York, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The Nissan driver was killed at the scene of the accident. He was a 44-year-old from Eutaw. The driver of the Dodge was injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The Highway Patrol Division of the ALEA is looking into the cause of the accident.
