Crash in Sumter County kills 1

SUMTER COUNTY, AL – According to WVUA23 News, one woman was killed in a crash in Sumter County on Saturday morning.

Authorities say the crash took place shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Alabama Highway 116 near Spring Valley Church Road. 57-year-old Pearlie M. Ivy was driving a sedan when her vehicle veered off the road, struck a sign and a driveway headwall, before finally hitting some trees.

Ivy was killed in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene. Police continue to investigate the cause of this incident.
