JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL – WBRC reports that a fatal two-vehicle collision took place on I-59 on Monday morning.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the incident occurred just north of Trussville, near the 145 mile marker on I-59.
Troopers say 47-year-old Clifton J. Cottingham, of West Blocton, was driving a Chevrolet S10 when he struck a parked tractor-trailer positioned on the emergency shoulder of the interstate.
Cottingham suffered fatal injuries as a result of the wreck. His 42-year-old passenger, Roy Melton, Jr., of Brent, was also killed.
Officials with the ALEA continue to investigate.
