Victim of multi-vehicle collision identified as Columbus man

LEE COUNTY, AL – A Columbus man who was killed in a vehicle crash last week has been identified by authorities,  the Ledger-Enquirer reports.

A man was driving in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado down Alabama Highway 80 when his vehicle swerved over the centerline. He struck a 2007 Kenworth tractor-trailer head-on. The two vehicles veered off of the roadway. The tractor-trailer then caught fire.

The wreck took place west of Ladonia, at about 6 a.m. Friday.

The Chevrolet’s driver, a 63-year-old from Columbus, was killed at the site of the accident.

Emergency responders transported the tractor-trailer’s driver to a hospital for treatment.
