One killed, one injured in three-vehicle collision

LOWNDES COUNTY, AL – An Alabama man died and his passenger was hurt after his vehicle was rear-ended Monday, Alabama Now reports.

A 2006 Ford Ranger was driving on I-65 at about 5:07 p.m. when it rear-ended a 2007 Nissan Altima. The impact caused the Nissan to crash into a 2004 Freightliner.

The wreck took place near mile marker 157, south of Montgomery.

The ALEA reports that the Nissan’s driver was not wearing seat belt restraints when the crash happened. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the site of the accident. His passenger was hospitalized for medical treatment.

ALEA Troopers are currently looking into the cause of the crash.
