Crash involving train kills two in Limestone County

ELKMONT, AL – Two people died yesterday when a truck fell on railroad tracks and was hit by a train, according to WAAY 31.

A truck was traveling northbound on I-65 when for unknown reasons it veered off of the roadway and fell onto railroad tracks. A CSX train crashed into the truck not long after it had crashed.

The wreck happened near Exit 361 towards Thach Road, at around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. One was identified as a 54-year-old man from Tennessee.

The Alabama State Troopers are currently handling the investigation.
