Narrative

COLBERT COUNTY – One person was injured, and two young men succumbed to fatal injuries after a driver swerved off Alabama State Route 247 and hit several trees Saturday. This wreck happened before 3 a.m. Officials haven’t indicated what led to the collision, but they did note that none of the occupants wore seatbelts. It was 19-year-old Alan Fernandez of Belmont, Mississippi, and 23-year-old Logan Humphries of Golden, Mississippi (the driver), who died. Humphries was pronounced dead at the scene, whereas Fernandez was taken to Helen Keller Hospital. The other passenger – 22-year-old Mario Aguire, also of Belmont – was taken to the same hospital for treatment.
