BESSEMER, AL – A worker was fatally injured after he was hit by a man driving drunk through a construction zone on I-59 last night, according to WBRC 6.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. Thursday, the driver of a 2012 Jeep Patriot was under the influence of alcohol when he hit and killed a construction worker and fled the scene. The crash took place at the 112-mile marker on I-59. The Jeep driver has been arrested for causing the incident.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is leading the investigation of this case.
