Vehicle accident in Etowah County causes death of toddler

ETOWAH COUNTY, AL – A collision between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer fatally injured a toddler on I-59 over the weekend, according to WDHN.

The driver of a 2010 Toyota Camry was traveling on I-59 at about 9:50 a.m. Friday when she veered into the opposite lane. She struck a 2020 Kenworth tractor-trailer, causing both her and her toddler passenger to be ejected from the car. The child was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The passengers of the Toyota were reportedly not wearing seatbelts. The driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed after the accident. The crash happened near the highway’s intersection with Alabama 77.
