Two-vehicle accident fatally injures one in Leeds

LEEDS, AL – A Harpersville man died on Monday after a pickup truck crashed into his car, The Trussville Tribune reports.

A man was driving westbound on Highway 78 when his Kia Optima was struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck. The truck was turning onto a highway ramp when it crashed into the left side of the Kia. The Kia then swerved off of the roadway.

Medics responded to the scene of the crash at about 6:01 a.m. Monday. The Kia’s driver was declared deceased at the accident site. He was a 62-year-old from Harpersville. It’s unclear whether the Chevrolet driver sustained any injuries.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office is investigating.
