WARRIOR, AL – A single-vehicle crash near Warrior claimed the life of a Hanceville man on Tuesday afternoon.

the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office says 40-year-old Joseph Scott Varner was heading south on I-65 at about 12:07 when he lost control of his Toyota 4-Runner near Mile Marker 283. The SUV then skidded off the interstate and slimmed into a roadside tree.

Varner was transported to UAB Hospital, where he died a short time later.
