Police chase in Homewood results in car accident

HOMEWOOD, AL – A vehicle crashed and caused a power outage after its passengers led police on a pursuit today, CBS 42 reports.

Officers with the Homewood Police Department located two suspects wanted for breaking into vehicles. The suspects attempted to escape custody and led police on a car chase down Green Springs Avenue. Their vehicle then swerved from the road and struck power lines support wires, causing a power outage.

The crash took place past the road’s intersection with Goldcrest Avenue. Authorities were able to detain both suspects.

One passenger of the vehicle was taken to a medical center for treatment. The severity of his injuries is unknown.

The Homewood Police Department is investigating.
